ART participants can expect a structured program aimed at helping them reduce aggressive behaviors and improve their social skills. The training involves three core components: Skillstreaming, Anger Control Training, Moral Reasoning

Instruction

Participants are guided to understand anger at its onset, how they chose to approach that anger, and what can happen as a result of their choices. The program consists of 10 sessions that focus on three entities: Boxing techniques to approach aggression, self-reflection and discussion, and academic support, as an option. This allows participants to learn to process any anger or aggressive behaviors by providing a physical platform, teaching critical thinking and logic, as well as any academic support needed for success.  Sessions are interactive and include discussions, designed to promote reflective listening and healthier decision making.

Upon the successful completion of The PACT Program, participants will be equipped to:

  • Understand different types of negative and aggressive behavior and how to handle conflict

  • Develop positive methods of controlling feelings of anger

  • Establish positive methods of dealing with violence

  • Manage impulsive decision making through appropriate communication to avoid unpleasant confrontations, solve problems without violence and anger, and gain respect from others

  • Acknowledge how the situation and environment makes you feel

  • Remain calm and think about how you are feeling and possible consequences for your actions

  • Take positive action toward your solutions
